Petite Mort is a reminder of resilience. A reminder even in the darkest times, it only requires a bit of air to regain light.

In this sculpture, the candle is smothered as a microcontroller closes the glass chamber. The flame dims as its deprived of oxygen. And just when the flame is about to go out, the chamber is automatically opened, and air rushes in and the flame brightens back beyond its original brightness. This cycle repeats. And in this repetition, the candle lasts longer than if you were to just burn it. Another metaphor for how building resilience helps prolong life.
